The Thursday wrap – Curlys time to shine

Apologies for missing last weeks edition, I’m sure we will make it up to you with this one.

This week we were given some great news that our grand Cup will be shifting to a Friday night.

The heats are still as per normal on the previous Wednesday but the Group 2 Ballarat Cup will be held on Friday the 4th of December.

This is a huge positive for the club, as it means we can attract more family’s to our great event.

As for racing this week the 450mtr Final on Wednesday night was an absolute cracker. It was a ding dong battle from box rise to the first turn with 4 greyhounds across the track before Crave and Major Curly took over to battle it out. The pair were neck and neck coming off Bottlo bend until Curly took over and raced away in 25.71.

MONDAY-

We had our normal Tier 3 Monday meeting. Swazza’s Rocket made it 2 on end after winning his maiden last week, taking his record to 3 starts for 2 wins and a third. The son of Cosmic Rumble has some nice box speed and looks as if he can take that next step out of Tier 3 grade and win a few more the connections.

Swazza’s Rocket straight to the front making it 2 on end.

WEDNESDAY-

Wednesday nights card was action packed. We had the final of the 1-4 wins 450mtr Event, Five GRV Vic bred 390mtr heats and two GRV VBIS Distance series heats over the tough 660mtrs.

Heat 1 of the Vic bred heats was taken out by the ultra constant Mighty Sprite making it 8 on the trot in 22.12

Curly’s time to shine

The Brian Hodgson trained Major Curly took out Wednesday nights 1-4 wins Final in fine fashion after last weeks dominate heat win.

Curly lobbed 3rd outside the leading bunch up the back straight before levelling up to eyeball the leader at the home turn to power away in the home straight to win by 3.5 lengths.

This exciting son of Bobby Boucheau just keeps taking the step up every time the bar is raised. Talking to Hodgy after the final, I asked him how strong the dog is and if he would get 500 mtrs, Without any hesitation he said “Oh yeah! I’m just taking my time with him and get him through his grades and step him up slowly, he’s going to be a really nice dog, defiantly city class”. With the box speed that Curly posses and the strength that he shows at the end of 450 mtrs I cant wait to see him in the city.

Major Curly proves to strong

Brennan’s keep on keeping on-

Team Brennan had yet another successful week with 3 winners and a handful of placings.

Denya & Koch at Warrnambool & Pop ya bubble at Cranbourne.

Other winners for the locals-

With a heap entered around in coming days I’m sure we can pick back up the winners.
