The Weekly Wrap – Monday Domination

Welcome to the weekly wrap, I hope you and all your dogs are adjusting to the horrid cold weather although we are in Ballarat and should be used to it. Anyway less moaning more racing! This week has been a dominate week for local trainers here at BGRC on Monday winning 7 of the 12 races shared between 5 trainers, very solid effort but more on that later.

As we posted yesterday our new training facilities are now completed and ready to use.

The internal grand stand has been pulled down but still cordoned off, you can now enter via the grand stand/betting ring door but please be careful.

HEATS AND FINALS

Last Wednesday night we conducted 4 Vic Bred Maiden heats. They produced some very nice types and some dogs to keep your eye on.

Heat 1 was taken out by the impressive Ocean Bay in a slock 25.65. This son of the all mighty Collision pinged straight to the lead and romped in for an 8.25L win.

Heat 2 was won by the very well backed Hone In, The Garland trained son of Spring Gun went straight to the lead and won with a leg in the air (10L) and record a time of 25.68

Heat 3 was won by the Norm Wynd trained Dynamic Couldron, this very well bred son of Lochinvar Marlow used the outside draw to his advantage and kept out of all the trouble to work to the front and be strong on the line in 26.06

Heat 4 was taken out by the very impressive Argyle Lucifer, this son of Bacia Bale shang-eyed straight to the front form box 8 and won as he liked in 25.81.

The second place dogs were:

Perfect Rider - Ran 26.22 and needs to improve a little to trouble these.

Son of Irod - Finished of the race super after beginning slowly in 26.44

Menindee - Finished of strongly after being checked out to near last and looping the field to record a time of 26.17

Matt Machine - Probably the unluckiest runner of the night. Squeezed out at the start to be last to run 7.15 to the first peg, picked his way through the field to power home and be beaten 2.25L and run 25.96.

The Semi Finals are on tonight and look very competitive racing.

The first semi finals, Ocean Bay looks very well drawn with a slow beginner on his inside and outside he looks to get to the fence and very hard to beat. In saying that if Matt Machine can hold the rail behind Ocean Bay the last 50 mtrs will be very interesting.

The second semi looks much more competitive with speed drawn in box 4 & 1 and the 2 can show some degree of speed. This semi ive gone for the very unlucky Receptive. Shes looks to get a nice cart over and can make amends of her first start and win this one.  Hone In will be hard to beat but this is much harder here than last week and Argyle Lucifer looks to be right up there also.
