The Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club are set to host a new race series aimed at distance racing.
The Ballarat Distance Challenge will run for the first time in February 2020 and will not be the usual heat and final series. Instead the Grand Final of the Ballarat Distance Challenge will be made up of the fastest eight qualifiers from three Preludes.
The Ballarat Distance Challenge Grand Final will be run on Wednesday February 25 with $10,000 going to the winner.
And it gets better. If your distance chaser didn’t make it through to the Ballarat Distance Challenge, a consolation will also be conducted for the slowest 8 times recorded in the Preludes worth $3,000 to-the-winner.
In the lead up to the Ballarat Distance Challenge, the Club are offering free 660 metre trials in preparation for the series, commencing 1st January.
