GRV provides the following updates to the current redevelopment of the Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club:
The redevelopment of the Racing Operations Centre (kennel block upgrade), which commenced on 8 May 2023, is a two-stage process – with Stage 1 nearing completion.
The new Racing Operations Centre (kennel block) is anticipated to be completed and ready to return to racing on Monday 26 February 2024, following the removal of the old kennel block.
Additional Stage 2 work will continue including the supporting grounds, yards, fencing, amenities, and infrastructure.
Will racing and trialling be impacted?
The Club will be closed for racing for a 6-week period to remove the old kennel block and prepare the new Racing Operations Centre for reopening.
Racing:
During this period the club has suspended racing, with the last race from the old Kennel Block held on Monday 15 January, 2024. The club will return to racing on Monday 26 February, 2024 from the new Racing Operations Centre.
Trialling:
Trialling has been suspended since Saturday 13 January, and will recommence after a major harrow in early February. Please monitor the ‘Announcements’ section of fasttrack.grv.org.au for the latest information and updates.
Changes to the race calendar:
Ballarat raced on Saturday mornings during the last six months of the 2023 calendar year. This timeslot has not continued as part of the race program in the 2024 calendar year.
From 1 January, 2024 the club returned to racing twice weekly (Monday and Wednesday NIGHTS), excluding the current suspension period.
Day time racing at Ballarat is not scheduled to return until after the completion of Stage 2 of the project in May 2024. This is to ensure that work during business hours for key contractors can continue to prepare the grounds and facilities in the shortest timeframe possible.

The Club will suspend racing for a period of 6 weeks to allow for the removal of the old Kennel block and ensure that the new facilities are ready for race day.

Participant Information Sessions
Will be held in February 2024 to familiarise all interested participants with the operations of the Kennel Block. The club will release more information upcoming.
