The Weekly Wrap – Ballarats Great Chase

Its been a sensational day at The Meadows for Ballarat connections with the Joe Borg trained Promises Kept taking out the Group 2 TAB Great Chase.

It was extra special because not only was it locally trained but Ballarats own McCallum Disability Services was aligned with the greyhound and for the big final.
Karen Spratling spokes women from McCallum Said “We were wrapped just to have a runner in the final and getting the $2000 for that, but when the dog was in front in the final i couldn’t believe it” “We are over the moon, We’re not sure what we’ll do with the $10,000 at this stage and have to have a thing about it”.
Joe Borg said “The story behind this dog is just incredible, and I am absolutely wrapped for the dog, and the family”

Congratulations to all involved and to GRV for for putting the event on.

HEATS & FINALS

Last week we had the running of the restricted wins (1-4) 450mts heats. We had some very strong heats and it looks a cracker final on paper.

Heat 1 - Went to the $1.40 fav Nitrology, He set a cracking pace early recording 6.58 to the first split before running away with a 3 1/4 L win in 25.53. Call Me Waylan Made a lot of ground to run into second.

Heat 2 - Was won by the zippy Bryden Dora, she flew the lids from box 8 recording a 6.55 first split and going on to win in 25.64. Repelo Muggletum was nipping at her heels at the line 3/4 of Length away in second.

Heat 3 - Was won in fine style by the well fancied Zipping Billy, he recorded a 4.5L win in a time of 25.40 and looks the 1 to beat in the final. What’s in Store ran into second but was no match.

Heat 4 - Went to the other Lanigan trained greyhound in Zipping Quinsee. She didn’t get it all her own way, bursting through late to run away a 3L winner in 25.56. Dusty Roy ran home strongly for second.

The Final – Zipping Billy is well drawn out in box 8 and only needs to repeat last weeks heat win and he’ll win, Bryden Dora had blistering box speed along Nitrology is also fast.
