The Weekly Wrap – Minister Opens Playground


Today was the official opening of the playground here at Ballarat. Minister for Racing, the Honourable Martin Pakula was in town for two opening’s, Firstly out at Mt Mercer, where he officially opened the latest GAP kennel site. Then into the track to open the playground that was part funded but the State Government. He also announced that we were receiving a further $75,000 for the upgrade of our decor in the restaurant.

HEATS AND FINALS

We have finals aplenty tonight on track with 2 Maiden Qualie finals, one over the 390mtr distance and one over the 450mtr distance. We also have the final of the G6 over the 450mtrs from the heats last week.

 

390mtr Qualie Final - This final is set to be a cracker with several of the runners scorching around in their respective heats.

Colluding - Won his heat in a slick 22.24 reeling of an 8.41 first split.

Star Desire - Set great speed early running 8.38 early and then 22.36.

Both dog come from the Williams kennel and looks to have the race at his mercy.

 

450mtr Qualie Final - This final is all but over.

Freakish Flash - Set crackin’ tempo in his qualie heat, reeling off 6.60 and finishing time 25.57.

Ultra Bear - There’s a little whisper around for this dog. Word is he can really boogie.

 

Grade 6 450mtr Final - There was only 2 heats for this last week so the first 4 go through to final.

Heat 1 - Super Smarty blitzed her rivals by 6 and a 1/4 Lengths. Mr perfect was second, Secret Choice, Third and Zoltan Bale back in 4th.

Heat 2 - Rick Grimes bombed the start and with the tailenders down the back but boy did he let go once he got clear. He swept up and put paid to the tear away leader Doyen King in 25.80. Country Jane was back in third and Turbo Chief in 4th.

We also have 2 heats of the “Great Chase” over the 450mtrs and both look very competitive.

 

DID YOU SEE

Tammy Baxter, Recorded her 36th win from her 77th start. and flew running 22.05.

 

Erica Mckenna was strong late, coming from mid-pack to win in 31.48

 

LOCAL RESULTS

We’ve had a easy week this week with 8 winners and 15 placings.

Trainer of the week goes to Peachy, hes got Stefanovic flying! Winning the other week at Warrnambool and then backing it up at Ballarat on Wednesday night at $29 if ya don’t mind. He also had Cruisen Billy placing at Warrnambool, Thursday night.
