The Weekly Wrap -Lil Dickie

This weeks wrap will focus on a club legend with the running of the Lil Dickie Oaks heats its fitting we reflect on what stalwart Lil was.

Lil was a colourful character and the heart and sole of the club, always the first to be here, doing everything and anything that needed doing around the place from running the trial sessions, selling trial tickets then on the return gate, running the qualie trails on the Sundays, handing out kennels tickets, running the office on race meetings, there wasn’t a job Lil couldn’t or wouldn’t.

Lil was on the Ballarat committee for 38 years but volunteered at the club for 45 plus years and with that service was appointed a life member of the club along with the naming of the Oaks in her honour. Lil retired at the ripe age of 86 but still attened meeting on a regular basis. The Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club will be ever grateful for her service and cannot thank her enough.
